Sweden's Talent Density Top 50: The Scale-Ups Hiring the Best Teams in 2026

In September 2026, Nova published Sweden’s first Talent Density Top 50 built specifically for tech scale-ups: 50 companies across BioTech, Energy, FinTech, AI and other categories, ranked purely on the quality of the people currently on their payroll. Not funding raised, not headcount growth, not brand recognition. If you haven’t read what Talent Density actually measures, that’s the plain-language explanation behind every number in the table below. Read the table top to bottom, or jump straight to your own company’s name: every row stands on its own, scored on the same scale.

Sana sets the pace at the top of this scale, the highest-scoring company in the data set. Below it sit 49 more tech scale-ups spanning BioTech, Energy, FinTech, AI, HealthTech and more, all scored the same way and compared only against each other, inside Sweden.

This is the closest thing to a data-backed answer for which are the best tech scale-ups to work for in Sweden right now, ranked by actual hiring quality rather than funding round size. For founders and recruiters competing specifically for BioTech, Energy or FinTech talent, this list is the most direct comparison available anywhere in Sweden today. Here’s the full list, the patterns worth noticing once you read all 50 rows together, and what to do next if your own company isn’t on it yet.

A quick reminder on how the Talent Density Index works

Every company’s Talent Density Index is the average score of the employees Nova has indexed for it, rescaled so the strongest hiring in that market sets the ceiling. In Sweden’s tech scale-up ranking, Sana sets the pace at the top of this scale, posting the highest score in the data set.

In practice, that means Sana’s 71.9 acts as this list’s ceiling, not a literal 100. Every other score reflects how close a company’s hiring comes to that top mark, not a fixed, universal bar nobody in Sweden’s tech scene has actually reached.

The scoring itself, the pillars behind every individual employee’s number, and exactly how the rescaling works, is covered in full in Nova’s Talent Density methodology breakdown. We won’t repeat all of that here, just the part you need to read the table below.

Sweden is also one of seven markets in Nova’s September 2026 launch, alongside Spain, Italy, the UK, Switzerland, Germany and France, each ranking its own 50 scale-ups. Mexico is live separately, as an earlier pilot market. Each market gets its own list, built from its own companies and scored only against them, so nothing in this post compares Sweden to any other country.

That distinction matters if you ever try to compare rankings across markets. Switzerland’s list and Mexico’s earlier pilot use the same underlying method, but their company counts, categories and score ranges stand entirely on their own, never on a shared scale with Sweden’s.

Which tech scale-ups make Sweden’s Talent Density Top 50?

Fifty tech scale-ups make Sweden’s first published Talent Density ranking, from Sana at #1 to Voyado at #50. The list spans BioTech, Energy, FinTech, AI, HealthTech and more, all scored on Nova’s same 0-100 logic and ranked only against each other, inside Sweden. Use the Category column to find peers in your own space, and the Index column to see how close a company’s hiring comes to Sana’s pace-setting score.

All rankings, company names, categories and index scores in this table are Nova’s own Talent Density data for Sweden’s top tech scale-ups, public since the September 2026 launch.

50 | tech scale-ups ranked in Sweden | Nova, September 2026
7 | markets covered in Nova's September 2026 launch | Nova, September 2026

A few names will be familiar if you follow Swedish tech news, most won’t be, and that gap is exactly the point: hiring quality and public visibility don’t always move together.

What patterns stand out in Sweden’s Top 50?

Four things stand out once you read all 50 rows together instead of just the top of the list. BioTech has more entries than any other single category, energy and climate technology show up again and again, FinTech clusters mostly in the second half of the ranking rather than near the top, and the gap between #1 and #50 stays surprisingly tight. Categories vary widely too, from BioTech and Nuclear DeepTech to Gaming and MusicTech, 28 different categories across just 50 companies.

BioTech has the deepest bench of any single category

BioTech has more entries than any other single category on this list. Pelago Bioscience (#11), Pixelgen Technologies (#12), Moleculent (#14), Affibody (#22), Cellcolabs (#28), Anocca (#30) and Atlas Antibodies (#48) bring the total to seven, more than any other label here.

That spread matters more than the raw count. These seven companies don’t bunch together near the top or bottom, they run from #11 all the way down to #48, which says the depth in Swedish BioTech hiring stretches across the whole list, not just its most visible names.

Energy and climate technology show up again and again

Energy and climate technology appear more often than you’d expect on a tech scale-up list. Flower (EnergyTech, #9), Altris AB (Energy, #18), Eliq (EnergyTech, #20), Greenely (EnergyTech, #26), CorPower Ocean (CleanTech, #32), Novatron Fusion Group (Fusion, #34), Normative (ClimateTech, #38) and Position Green (ClimateTech, #40) put the count at eight.

Two of them go even narrower. Blykalla (Nuclear DeepTech, #16) and Novatron Fusion Group (Fusion, #34) both build specifically in nuclear fusion, a category young enough anywhere that seeing it twice on one 50-company list is worth noticing.

FinTech clusters in the second half of the list

FinTech doesn’t show up until well into the back half of this ranking. Atlar (#27), Zimpler (#37), Trustly (#42), Kustom (#43) and Brite Payments (#44), five companies in total, and not one of them cracks the top 20.

That’s a different shape than BioTech or Energy, both of which spread from the top of the list downward. Whatever’s driving FinTech hiring quality in Sweden right now, on this particular ranking it isn’t concentrated near the very top.

The score band across the full 50 stays fairly tight

Sana’s 71.9 at #1 and Voyado’s 60.1 at #50 sit only 11.8 points apart across all 50 companies. That’s a narrow spread for a full ranking, and it says the bar to make this list at all, in Sweden’s tech scene, is already high. Even the company at #50 sits closer to the top than its rank alone suggests.

For anyone benchmarking against this list, that tight band means small differences in the number can reflect real differences in hiring outcomes, not statistical noise.

What if your company isn’t on this list?

Only 50 tech scale-ups fit on Sweden’s first published ranking, and plenty more hire well in the country’s tech sector. Not being on this list says nothing about your own hiring quality: it only means you’re not yet one of the 50 highest-scoring tech scale-ups Nova has ranked in Sweden. That’s true whether your company sits in BioTech, Energy, FinTech or any of the other categories represented across this specific list.

The fastest way to find out where you actually stand is to look yourself up. Nova’s Talent Density tool lets you search your own company directly and see your number, plus how it compares against named competitors hiring in the same category.

A few things worth doing once you have that number:

  • Search your own name directly, rather than guessing from the rank list. A number outside the top 50 still beats not knowing where you stand at all.
  • Compare against three named competitors in your own category, not the market as a whole, since that’s the comparison candidates and investors actually make.
  • Revisit it after your next hiring wave. Indexing is ongoing, and this table is a snapshot, not a permanent scoreboard.

None of this is about chasing a number for its own sake. It’s about knowing, in plain terms, where your hiring actually stands before a candidate, investor or competitor tells you first.

If the number tells you something you don’t love, the useful next step isn’t panic, it’s a plan. Our guide to benchmarking your company’s talent quality walks through what to do with a Talent Density score once you have one, from where to check first to which area is actually pulling your number down.

The bottom line

Sweden’s Talent Density Top 50 is the first fully public version of this ranking built specifically for the country’s tech scale-ups, using Nova’s own index rather than a survey anyone had to answer honestly. Sana sets the pace at the top, BioTech has more entries than any other single category, and energy and climate technology show up again and again across the full 50 rows, from Nuclear DeepTech to FinTech to AI.

That doesn’t diminish the tech scale-ups outside these three categories either. It just means the deepest hiring benches close to the top of this specific list currently sit in BioTech, Energy and climate-adjacent companies, with FinTech building quickly from further down.

Whether you came here because a competitor mentioned their score, or because you’re simply curious where your own company lands, the honest next step is the same: look yourself up and see the real number.

Frequently asked questions

What is Sweden's Talent Density Top 50?

It's a ranking of 50 tech scale-ups, covering categories like BioTech, Energy, FinTech and AI, scored on team quality rather than growth metrics or press coverage. It's part of Nova's Talent Density launch, public since September 2026, and every company on it is measured only against the other 49 on this specific list.

How does a company qualify for Sweden's ranking?

Nova scores every professional it indexes across a set of pillars, then averages those scores per company into a Talent Density Index. The exact components and the logic behind them are covered in Nova's Talent Density methodology breakdown, worth reading before comparing your own company against anyone on this list.

What does a Talent Density Index score actually mean?

It reflects a company's average employee score, adjusted so the top performer in this specific market becomes the benchmark. Sana currently holds that top spot in Sweden's tech scale-up ranking, so every other score shows how close that company's hiring comes to the strongest bench on this list.

Is Sweden's ranking compared against other countries?

No. Every company on this list is measured strictly against other Swedish tech scale-ups, not against companies anywhere else. Sweden is one of seven markets where Nova published this ranking in September 2026, and every market's list stands entirely on its own, built and scored independently of the rest.

Why does this list only include tech scale-ups?

This specific Top 50 was built to answer a narrower question: which tech scale-ups, across BioTech, Energy, FinTech, AI and similar categories, have hired the deepest bench of high performers in Sweden. It's not a cross-sector ranking, and every name on it competes in a tech-adjacent category.

My company isn't in the Top 50. Does that mean our hiring is weak?

No. This list only has room for 50 names, and Sweden's tech sector includes plenty of strong performers beyond it. Search your own company directly to see its actual number, then compare that number against named competitors in your own category rather than against this particular top 50.
